The Challenge

Concise Computer Consulting has been a Microsoft Partner for more than 15 years, supporting small and midsize businesses across the Midwest with a team of 11. But despite that tenure, they were leaving real money on the table: Microsoft’s partner incentive programs pay out based on Proof of Execution (PoE) submissions, and Concise had never successfully navigated that process. Submissions were inconsistent, documentation was thin, and rejections were common — meaning clients across their book were fully adopting Microsoft 365 services like Exchange, SharePoint, and Teams, but Concise wasn’t being paid for driving that adoption. Their partnership tier had even lapsed from a prior Silver status, quietly cutting off access to additional resources, marketing support, and revenue share.

Compounding the problem, nobody on the team had the bandwidth to become the in-house expert on Microsoft’s Partner Center requirements on top of running day-to-day client support. PoE documentation standards, incentive eligibility rules, and submission strategy all shift regularly — the kind of specialized, constantly-moving target that’s hard to stay on top of while also being the team clients call when something breaks.

The Solution

Concise needed two things to happen together: a reliable process for documenting and submitting PoEs that would actually get approved, and a path back to an active, advancing Microsoft partnership rather than a lapsed one. Calibrate 365 was engaged to close both gaps at once:

  • Partner Center Audit — a full review of Concise’s existing PoE submissions, partnership status, and incentive eligibility across their client base, identifying which customers were under Microsoft’s 30% utilization threshold and eligible for incentive claims.
  • Tailored Training & Workshops — hands-on sessions for the Concise team on PoE documentation requirements, compliance checks, and submission strategy, so future PoEs would hold up to Microsoft’s review the first time.
  • Ongoing Submission Support — direct review and revision of PoE drafts, plus hands-on support through the actual Partner Center submission process for each new engagement.

Beyond stabilizing the backlog, Calibrate 365 built Concise a repeatable rhythm going forward: every new customer onboarding now includes a Proof of Execution filed at the very start of the engagement, before Microsoft services even go live, so the documentation exists from day one instead of being reconstructed after the fact.

The optimization strategy also aligned Concise’s project types — deployments, migrations, customer adoptions — directly against Microsoft’s incentive criteria, so PoEs were written to highlight exactly the qualifying work Microsoft looks for.

The engagement ran as a structured 3-month rollout: a two-week discovery phase auditing past PoEs and rejection patterns, six weeks guiding the creation and submission of new PoEs with real-time feedback, a review phase tracking approvals and resolving Microsoft’s follow-up questions, and a final month of post-implementation support to train internal champions so the process holds up without Calibrate 365 in the room.

The Result

Concise now has a working, repeatable Proof of Execution process instead of a partnership benefit they weren’t able to use. All 38 PoEs submitted during the engagement were approved — a stark contrast to the rejections and non-submissions that came before it.

That approval rate translated directly into unlocked incentive revenue that Concise had been fully earning through client adoption but never claiming. It also moved their standing with Microsoft: Concise was elevated to Microsoft Cloud Solutions Partner – Modern Work status, unlocking co-selling opportunities and advanced training that were out of reach while their partnership sat lapsed.

Just as important, the 60% reduction in time spent on PoE submissions means this isn’t a one-time win that fades once Calibrate 365 steps back — it’s freed-up capacity Concise’s team can put toward client-facing work instead of wrestling with Partner Center paperwork.

And because PoE filing is now a standard step in every new customer onboarding, Concise is positioned to keep capturing incentive revenue as they bring on new clients, without re-learning the process each time.

“What used to be a partnership benefit Concise couldn’t use is now a documented process that pays for itself with every client they onboard.”

Why It Matters

Microsoft’s partner incentive programs don’t reward the best technical work automatically — they reward the partners who document that work correctly. An MSP can be delivering excellent Microsoft 365 outcomes for every client and still forfeit thousands in earned incentives simply because the Proof of Execution paperwork wasn’t filed, or wasn’t filed well enough to survive review. That’s not a knock on the team doing the work; it’s a reflection of how specialized and detail-heavy Microsoft’s Partner Center requirements have become.

It also compounds quietly. A lapsed partnership tier doesn’t just cost the incentives tied to it — it cuts off the marketing support, resources, and revenue share that come with active standing, often without anyone noticing until they go looking for it.

“Concise didn’t need to become Microsoft Partner Center specialists — they needed a partner who already was.”

That’s the real shape of this engagement: Concise’s team didn’t have to become full-time Partner Center experts to start capturing this revenue. Calibrate 365 owns that complexity — the shifting documentation standards, the eligibility rules, the day-to-day Partner Center mechanics — so Concise can stay focused on what they already do well: running a great MSP for their own clients.
